Yahoo to Launch Ad Network Tomorrow

In a NY Times article published today, is going to launch it’s AdSense competitor tomorrow (Wednesday). This has been talked about for a while now, but it looks like its finally going to happen.

I think this is good news for the whole PPC industry. Competition is always good, and we should Yahoo and Google push each other to bring out better features, and (I hardly even dare to day it) maybe even better revenue shares for publishers.

I know I’ll be signing up as soon as I can to try it out. I may need to update the site to allow entries for both AdSense and Yahoo publisher network.

Now we just need Microsoft to join in on this too.

I can’t wait.

New Grouped Queries

We have introduced two new special queries. The Grouped by Category and Grouped by Language queries let you view the data in the database by groups. I find this a very interesting way to view the data.

Some things to note:

  • English language sites average more than double the money of the other languages.
  • The two most popular categories are blogs and computers. The computer category averages almost 5 times more than the blog category

Edit Your Earnings Records

I have added a feature where you can now edit any of your earnings records. When you are signed in, a new “Edit My Earnings” option is available on the left side navigation bar. Click it and you will see a list of all of your earnings submissions, each with an “edit” link. You can change any of the fields in the record you choose.

To do list

Here is my current to do list of user facing functionality. They are listed roughly in order of priority:

  • Edit earnings entries – allow users to edit submissions – done
  • Favicons in results – in the results screen, show a favicon from the site beside the earnings amount
  • Prohibit month and URL duplicates – if a submission is done for a an existing URL that already has an entry or that month, don’t allow it
  • Delete saved queries
  • Edit saved queries

If you have any other suggestions, let me know.
