JenSense reports on YPN vs. AdSense

JenSense is reporting her results of using YPN for almost a month by comparing them to her previous month’s AdSense revenue. Her results seem to be that the total earnings are very similar.

I am slightly disappointed because we saw some early results from WorkBoxer that indicated that YPN might be outperforming AdSense. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for more comparisons.

My guess is that Yahoo! may have had a natural spike from having plenty of advertisers, but not enough publishers. Now that they’ve been adding new beta participants left and right, the playing field is probably getting more even, and the payouts are normalizing. Worst case scenario would be that Yahoo! opens up their service to the public, and their payout dips way below Adsense. In that case, Yahoo! will screw themselves right out of the starting gate.

Good point, John. If advertisers were bidding on just a few sites it could have increased the prices quite a bit.

I’m just hoping that the competition will be good for publishers across the board..

I’m hoping Yahoo will grow extensively. As more publishers sign up for contextual ads maybe we should see good returns as from our future promotions!

Yahoo still has a lot of ground to cover
